sleep to dream

I'm a chronic dreamer. Almost everytime I sleep, I dream. I don't always remember my dreams when I wake up (more times than not they are just a blur), but I do know that I dream frequently.

Often times the dreams that I remember are nightmares or otherwise "strange" dreams. And stressed out dreams. I am prone to them when I have had a fairly stressful day of doing the same thing over and over again (carpal tunnel dream?). These were quite frequent during my years of being a cashier. Whenever we'd have an unusually busy day and I'd work the evening shift I would come home and dream about being at work, doing my cashier duties over and over again. Once I even awoke to find myself physically sitting up in bed, and going through the motions of bagging. And also using my bedside clock as the register, the time obviously being the total amount due. Luckily as I got used to the job, those dreams, for the most part, stopped.

In the past week or so, I've had two dreams in which I've remembered, at least partially. The first dream was a good one...it was after I missed buying those silverchair tickets and I had a dream that I was at a silverchair show, right at the front next to the stage. It was a pretty nice dream and I took it as a sign that I would be getting to see them soon.

Last night I had a strange dream. Now, last night I watched the show Criminal Minds on tv. I've been watching that show since it first started on a semi regular basis. If you haven't seen Criminal Minds, think of it as a CSI type show, but instead of using science to solve crimes, it's psychological profiling that gets the job done. At times, this show can get fairly intense, but it's never really bothered me. But I guess last night's episode got to me, it was about a anti-social serial killer who has committed over 100, extremely gruesome murders. And unlike all the other episodes, the episode left off on a cliffhanger that really made you wonder if the guy was ever going to be caught. So I guess this episode got to me. This morning I was more tired than normal, I woke up about nine and attempted to get up, but I fell back to sleep..and started dreaming about the show and this episode. There was no real details to my dream except two of the characters from the show were on there...and my car had broken down in the middle of nowhere (which is something that happened in last night's show). I don't think anything happened in my dream after that, but I woke up really suddenly with that panicky feeling that you sometimes get after having a nightmare. It was not a good feeling at all.

Smashing Pumpkins-In the Arms of Sleep (don't mind the soap opera video, its the best I could find).

I usually only have recurring dreams when I am trying to work out a problem. The dream I most hate is the one where I get up and struggle to get ready for work on time -- then wake and find I've overslept, and have to do it all over again for real ...

Quill: I always have the feeling that I'm oversleeping on Sunday's as I get so little sleep that day. And I often have like little mini dreams of not hearing the alarm...so I guess they are reoccuring dreams but they don't feel like dreams, just feelings in my sleep. LOL, that made no sense.

OMG... I too am a "chronic dreamer". Almost every single night, I have multiple dreams. And they are VERY realistic. Unfortunately, about 90% of my dreams are nightmares, and I have no idea why... : (
